Let’s dive in and start learning.
Today’s topic is: A Day at the Supermarket.
Let’s follow Lisa as she does her shopping and learn some common words and phrases used in supermarkets.
It’s Saturday morning, and Lisa is getting ready to go shopping.
👩🦰 Lisa: I need some groceries. Let me check my list… I need fruit, bread, milk, and some snacks. Okay, let’s go!
She walks to the supermarket near her home. It’s a big store with many aisles. At the entrance, she takes a shopping cart and walks to the fruit and vegetable section. She chooses four apples, a bunch of bananas, and two tomatoes.
Then she heads to the bakery section and grabs a fresh loaf of whole grain bread.
Next stop: the dairy section. She picks up a bottle of milk, a dozen eggs, and a small piece of cheddar cheese.
Now she goes to the snack aisle, grabs a bag of chips and a chocolate bar, and finally visits the household aisle to buy dish soap.
She walks to the checkout and waits in line. When it’s her turn, the cashier smiles and greets her.
💁 Cashier: Good afternoon! Did you find everything you were looking for?
👩🦰 Lisa: Yes, thank you! Just the basics today.
💁 Cashier: Great! Do you have our store membership card?
👩🦰 Lisa: Not yet. Do I need one?
💁 Cashier: It’s free and you can save money on some products. I can give you a form if you’re interested.
👩🦰 Lisa: Maybe next time, thanks!
💁 Cashier: No problem. Your total is $22.10. How would you like to pay?
👩🦰 Lisa: I’ll pay by card.
💁 Cashier: Alright, please insert your card and enter your PIN.
…(beep)… Perfect. Would you like a receipt?
👩🦰 Lisa: Yes, please.
💁 Cashier: Here you go. Have a great day!
👩🦰 Lisa: You too. Thanks!
