Hello everyone! Welcome back to 5-Minute English Practice. I’m Jessica, and today I want to share my haircare routine at home.
I really enjoy taking care of my hair because healthy hair makes me feel happy and confident. Also, haircare time helps me relax after a busy week. Today is Sunday, so I have more free time. It is the perfect day for a haircare routine. Let’s start!
First, I brush my hair carefully. My hair gets tangled very easily, especially in the morning. I use a wide comb because it is gentle on my hair. I always start from the ends and slowly brush upward. If I brush too fast, my hair can break.
After brushing my hair, I prepare some warm coconut oil. I like coconut oil because it makes my hair soft and shiny. Sometimes I also use argan oil, but coconut oil is cheaper and easy to find.
I put a small amount of oil on my hands and massage my scalp slowly. The massage feels really good and relaxing. I usually do this for about five minutes. Then I put more oil on the middle and ends of my hair because those parts are usually dry.
While waiting for the oil to work, I drink tea and watch videos on my phone. Sometimes I read a book. I normally leave the oil on my hair for about thirty minutes.
Next, it is time to wash my hair. I go to the bathroom and wet my hair with warm water. I do not use very hot water because hot water can make hair dry.
Then I use shampoo. I only use a small amount because too much shampoo is not good for my scalp. I massage the shampoo gently into my scalp. I love the smell of my shampoo. It smells fresh and clean. After that, I rinse my hair carefully with water.
Then I use conditioner. Conditioner is very important for my hair because my hair is long and sometimes dry. I put conditioner mostly on the ends of my hair, not on the scalp.
I leave the conditioner on for a few minutes. During that time, I usually wash my face or sing songs in the shower. Then I rinse everything out with cool water. Cool water helps my hair look smoother and shinier.
After my shower, I do not rub my hair hard with a towel. I gently press the towel on my hair to remove water. Wet hair is weak, so we should be careful.
Next, I use a hair dryer, but only for a short time. I try not to use too much heat because heat can damage hair. Sometimes I let my hair dry naturally, especially when the weather is warm.
After drying my hair, I apply a little hair serum. The serum helps control frizzy hair and makes my hair soft. I only use one or two drops.
Then comes my favorite part — relaxing! I sit near the window, drink iced coffee, and enjoy my clean hair. The smell is amazing. I feel fresh and comfortable.
Sometimes I also do a hair mask at home. My favorite hair mask is made from yogurt and honey. It sounds funny, but it works well for me. I mix two spoons of yogurt with one spoon of honey and put it on my hair for fifteen minutes. I do not use the hair mask every day. I usually use it once a week.
Many people think haircare is difficult or expensive, but I think simple routines are okay. You do not need many expensive products. The most important thing is to take care of your hair regularly.
Here are some simple tips for healthy hair: First, drink enough water every day. Second, eat healthy food like eggs, fish, vegetables, and nuts. Third, do not wash your hair too often. And finally, try not to use too much heat on your hair. Healthy hair takes time, so be patient.
Before I finish today’s video, I want to ask you a question. What is your favorite haircare product? Is it shampoo, conditioner, hair oil, or something else? Please write your answer in the comments below. I would love to read your comments.
